Banner Competition

WOW! Congratulations entrants!!

The banner competition has finally begun with a massive 32 entries created. Thanks to all students who have sent through their entries especially those from our sister school Maria Bintang Laut in Indonesia. Here is the link where you can check out all the entries. http://ourlovelylady.blogspot.com.au/p/banner-entries.html

As a result of the large number of entries we will now extend voting for the banner competition to run over a two week period and end on the 11th of March rather than the 4th. There is a voting gadget on the blog and everyone and anyone is welcome to vote for their favourite banner. (Students, teachers, parents, relatives etc...).

Thanks again to all the entrants, you've all done a great job! Congratulations, good luck and happy voting!!

Learning Styles and Technology!

This week we completed two online quizzes that looked at our preferred learning styles and also what experience and exposure we have had to different types of technology.

The first quiz "Discover Your Preferred Learning Style" told us what style of learner we were. (Audio, Visual, Kinaesthetic)

We all use different learning styles but most of us have a dominant style that we prefer. Here's the link to the quiz we took. See if you can figure out what your style is?

Below are the results.

We also completed a quiz using an online program called "Socrative". Mr. Will created this quiz to investigate the sorts of technology we have used and been exposed to in the past. Below is a "Wordle" that shows what technology we use most.
This quiz also investigated what we thought success looked like in a computer class. Here's what we thought displayed in another "Wordle".

Blogging at Our Lovely Lady - Banner Competition

We have recently launched the "Our Lovely Lady" blog where we are going to share what we have learnt in class. The blog has been created by Mr. Will and he has posted the first few entries.

Mr. Will has asked that we make this blog our own. He would like us to firstly design and then contribute to this blog on a weekly basis.

To begin with we will need to create our own banner for the blog. A competition has been created to create and choose the "Our Lovely Lady" banner that will be displayed at the top of our blog. Students have the opportunity to create a banner of their own and submit them to Mr. Will by Tuesday 25th February. Entries will be displayed on the blog from this date for 1 week. During this week you will have an opportunity to vote for the banner you like most. Votes will be taken until Tuesday 4th March where a winner will be announced.
Below are suggestions for some web tools you might like to use to help you make this banner. Comment below if you know of any other cool sites or apps that could help you in this process.

Please email completed banners with your name and grade to Mr. Will at wsederino@olbrunswickeast.catholic.edu.au

GOOD LUCK, HAVE FUN AND BE CREATIVE!!!

ICT at OLHC

This week we had our first ICT lesson with Mr. Will. In this lesson we were introduced to some of different Web Based Programs we will be using in class this year. The first was called "ClassDojo".

Class Dojo is a program were we can earn points by displaying positive behaviours and producing excellent work during classtime.  Individuals and teams of students who earn the most points throughout the term will win prizes. All students have an avatar (character) that that is allocated to them within the "ClassDojo" program. In the coming weeks some of us will receive our own usernames and passwords to access "ClassDojo" so we can personalise these avatars to our liking. Hopefully we can all earn lots of points in the coming weeks!

We also used a program called "Popplet" to help us brainstorm "What a Good ICT Class Looks Like?" Below is what we came up with.

I've added a link below also as the Popplet is not embedding into the blog properly. I will endeavor to fix this issue.
